Property registrations 'strong in London'
The number of new homes being built across the UK is rising,
particularly in regions such as the capital, it has been
found.
New research conducted by the National House-Building Council
(NHBC) found that the city led the way in terms of house building
registrations, meaning there will be more property for sale in London.
The organisation, which was established in 1936 and aims to raise
the construction standards of homes, found that registrations for
new residences around the country were up by 85 per cent in March
compared with the same month last year.
In London, this figure reached 138 per cent for the first quarter
of 2010.
"While registrations are still significantly lower than before the
recession hit, these latest figures are certainly a step in the
right direction," stated NHBC chief executive Imtiaz
Farookhi.
He went on to suggest that the direction of the market will be
easier to judge after the general election has taken place on May
6th.
