Home insurance vital for Guy Fawkes' Night

Homeowners who do not have household insurance ahead of Guy Fawkes
Day are playing with fire, it has been claimed.
According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), our
tradition of lighting bonfires in back gardens leads to thousands
of pounds worth of property damage every year.
Just as important to remember, remember this November, another
insurance provider has warned, is the fact that burglars often
target homes on November 5th because they know that owners are
likely to be away at fireworks displays.
Jonathan Langstaff-Ellis, general insurance team supervisor at
Defaqto, said: "Above all, it is vital that you check that the sums
insured are high enough to cover any potential loss."
Data from Churchill Home Insurance, furthermore, shows that 7.8 per
cent of UK homes have been damaged by fireworks at some stage and
that the average insurance claim stands at around £307.
