Buy-to-let 'remains in strong shape'

In the main, small businesses in the buy-to-let market are not
being affected by the problems seen in the housing market as a
whole, according to one official.
Chief executive at the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies
George Derbyshire stated that a different "dynamic" is seen in this
sector, so there is unlikely to be the prospect of matters going
"bust".
Although in some cases, Mr Derbyshire added, caution is the
watchword of the day and service providers may not want to hand out
products.
Moreover, the analyst contended, the owners of small firms are not
immune to the worries apparent in the wider market.
"Small business owners generally also have mortgages on their
private properties and are facing the same pressures and concerns
as the rest of the population," he commented.
Building in the commercial sector has taken a knock form the credit
crunch, Savills noted recently, as construction work decreased in
February.
